FAQs

Here are some commonly asked questions and their answers.

How do I know if I should go for counselling or psychotherapy?

If either you or someone close to you notices that you have either a persistent or frequently recurring emotional or psychological issue, then you should consider counselling.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the extent of the problem and your own expectations of what you want to achieve but the decision on the duration of therapy always rests with you.

What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Counselling is normally for a short duration and useful when facing a specific difficulty whereas Psychotherapy is indicated if a change in thinking patterns would be helpful.

How much does it cost?

The cost is €70 per one hour session. At Alleviate both of our therapists have both primary and master’s degrees in Psychotherapy and are accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
